Can an employer enforce a non-compete after the employee leaves? (India)
Generally not. Section 27 of the Indian Contract Act, 1872 makes agreements in restraint of trade void, and courts apply it to post-employment non-competes. Restraints that operate only during employment are treated differently.

Overview

What is Legalyard AI?

Legalyard AI is an AI work assistant for lawyers and legal professionals: solo practitioners, law students, and independent professionals. Ask a research question, upload a document to review, or draft a contract or notice. Every answer shows where it came from, so you can check it before you rely on it.

It is built for the work itself, not for a sales demo: official sources, checked citations, and numbers calculated by code instead of guessed by a model.

Research, draft, review. One assistant.

  • Research from official sources

Ask in your own words and get answers grounded in statutes and judgments, each one cited.

  • Citations you can check

Citations are verified, claims link to their source passages, and deadlines, fees, and interest are calculated by code.

  • Draft contracts and notices

Agreements, notices, and letters drafted in minutes, edited section by section, and exported to Word or PDF.

  • Review any document

Upload a contract or judgment and get a summary and the risky clauses, each linked to its page.

  • Memory, projects, notebooks

It remembers how you work, keeps each matter in its own project, and saves excerpts and authorities in notebooks.

  • Ask across many documents

Put a whole file in a library and ask one question across every document, with cross-referenced answers.

Built for India and the US

Official sources, not guesses

Legalyard AI is built around the primary sources lawyers actually cite. More jurisdictions are planned.

India

India Code, Supreme Court of India, eCourts, and the Gazette.

United States

CourtListener, Congress.gov, and Cornell LII.

Who it's for

For the lawyers big legal tools skip

  • Solo lawyers & small practices

The same research, drafting, and review work as any firm, without an enterprise contract or an onboarding team.

  • Students & junior lawyers

Learn faster with answers that show their sources, and build good habits on day one.

  • Independent professionals

Consultants, company secretaries, and compliance professionals who work with legal documents every day.

Where it's going

Your legal assistant, wherever you already work

  1. NOW

    Research, draft, review

Cited answers, drafting, and document review on web and mobile.

  2. NEXT

    Knows your practice

Your jurisdiction and practice area built in, deadline reminders, and tracked-change redlines in Word.

  3. THEN

    Reaches you anywhere

Ask on WhatsApp or SMS and get the answer in the same chat.

The honest fine print

Legalyard AI is a research and drafting tool for legal professionals. It is built by Legalyard, a software company, not a law firm, and it does not provide legal advice or create a lawyer–client relationship. Always review its output and verify authorities before relying on them; you remain responsible for your own work.
